The Yamato
The Yamato are a group of people that lived in Japan, for just less than four centuries, through the years of 400 AD to 794 AD. They were said to be descendants of the sun god. The Yamato chiefs called themselves the Emperors of Japan. Whenever there were wars or fights against opposing clans, the winner of the war was elected the Shogun of the empire. The Shogun had all the power, the Emperors were pretty much just the face of the empire, and they had no power. The Shogun ruled under the emperor’s name and gained all of the power. The Yamato Empire ended when the Fujiwara beat the Yamato in a war and became Shogun. The Yamato people were kept alive and not killed by the Fujiwara.
