The Khmer
The Khmer Empire was a main power in Southeast Asia, also around the areas of Indochina. It was founded in the 800s. They conquered many of the neighboring kingdoms. They created many irrigation systems, which helped in tripling the amount of rice crops being harvested in a year, rice crops were produced four times a year. One of the biggest religious structure is the Angkor Wat, which is a temple. They also used Agokor Wat as their capital and center of trade. This also helped with safety as they put a moat as well as a stone wall around the complex. The Khmer dedicated Angkor Wat to the Hindu god, Vishnu. Since this temple was for Hinduism, that means that India had a huge influence on this empire. Angkor Wat was also an observatory. This Empire lasted until 1200 AD.
