The Song
The Song Dynasty lasted just over three centuries, from the year of 960 through the year of 1279 AD, first ruled by emperor taizu. The Song dynasty was a smaller empire because of the lose of the Western and Nothern lands that were lost to conquerers. The Song's neighbors to the North were the Jurchen, they tried to bribe them with tributes of items like silk, silver, and tea, they used these bribes to try and stop the Jurchen from trying to push them to the south. The Jurchen ended up taking over the north, the bribes did not work out very well. Now having the Jurchen controlling over the northern territory, the Song were forced to move their capital to Hangzhou. The Song ended up loosing the Silk Roads because of the location of them, they were in the northern territory. After being forced south, the Song still tried to keep the peacewith tributes. They traded things likegunpowder, papers, paper money, printing presses, and porcelain. Also, the Song grew rice twice a year, to support the large population. In this dynasty, the taxes were extremely low, which lead to a smaller army. This did not help when the Mongols attacked, and eventually conquered the Song.
